Dirty River Roller Derby is looking for opponents for both the A team and the B team!

Our A team Föri Fighters is looking for international opponents for WFTDA Sanctioned games (a mini-tournament) in Turku, Finland on the 8th of December. Our June 2018 WFTDA ranking is 204.

Our B team Åbo B-ajs is looking for opponents for games and scrimmages this autumn. B-ajs is our recently re-founded B team with a diverse group of players: many have skated for years but some have not played a game yet. Åbo B-ajs would like to play teams who are on a similar level.

Come & try roller derby! Roller Derby is the coolest sport in the world: it’s fast, intense and FUN! The open skate event is free of charge and open for all genders. You must be at least 16 to attend but otherwise there is no age limit. You’ll get to try the skates and other gear yourself and learn more about our league. You don’t need to know how to skate or have any background in sports to attend. Everyone is welcome!

Come & try roller derby! Dirty River Roller Derby is looking for new skaters, referees and non-skating officials. This event is free of charge and open for all genders. You must be at least 16 to attend but otherwise there is no age limit! There will be a short exhibition game and then you’ll get to try the skates and other gear yourself. You don’t need to know how to skate or have any background in sports to attend. Everyone is welcome!

DRRD etsii valmentajia!

Valmentajia haussa ensi kaudelle – oletko se sinä?

Seuramme Dirty River Roller Derby etsii edustusjoukkueilleen valmentajia kaudelle 2018-2019. Dirty River Roller Derbyssä on kaksi joukkuetta, jotka edustavat seuraa. A-joukkue Föri Fighters pelaa tulevalla kaudella SM-sarjaa ja WFTDA-sanktioituja pelejä kotimaassa ja ulkomailla. B-joukkue Åbo B-ajs on uusi, keväällä 2018 uudelleen perustettu joukkue, joka etsii tasoisiaan vastustajia Suomesta ja mahdollisesti ulkomailta.

Joukkueiden valmennukseen toivotaan useampia valmentajia, jotka jakavat valmentamiseen liittyvät vastuut sekä tehtävät yhdessä valmennustiimin ja joukkueiden kapteenien kesken. Valmentajien tehtäviin voi kuulua esimerkiksi peleissä penkkivalmentajana toimiminen, treenien ajoittainen suunnittelu ja vetäminen sekä sitoutuminen joukkueiden tavoitteiden edistämiseen. Tehtävät sovelletaan henkilön kiinnostuksen kohteiden, resurssien ja joukkueiden tarpeiden mukaan.

Toivomme hakemuksia erilaisilta valmentajaehdokkailta. Otamme huomioon hakemukset myös vain syyskaudeksi, yksittäisiin peleihin tai turnauksiin tai kertaluonteisesti vaikkapa bootcampin muodossa. Laita rohkeasti hakemus tulemaan, niin katsotaan yhdessä, mitä juuri sinulla voisi olla annettavana meille ja meillä sinulle!

Pyydämme vapaamuotoiset hakemukset osoitteeseen treenit.drrg@gmail.com. Kerro hakemuksessasi esimerkiksi urheilu- ja/tai roller derby -taustastasi, millainen tyyppi olisit valmentajana ja minkälaiset resurssit sinulla olisi sitoutua joukkueiden/joukkueen valmennukseen. Mainitse myös, mikäli olet kiinnostunut vain A- tai B-joukkueen valmennuksesta. Käythän myös tutustumassa seuramme arvoihin.

The seventh and last regular season tournament of the 2018 Roller Derby Suomi Cup will be played on May 26th 2018 at the brand new Kupittaan Palloiluhalli. Dirty River Roller Derby will play against Kouvola Roller Derby and Kallio Rolling Rainbow will play against Tampere Roller Derby. Great teams, amazing derby, cool people – you simply cannot miss this!

Derby Festival at Kirjakahvila 18.-19. November

DRRD PROUDLY PRESENTS: Derby Festival at Kirjakahvila 18. and 19. November!

To bring some light to the darkness of early winter we are organizing a fantastic derby festival at Kirjakahvila. There will be all kinds of things to do! Come and find cool stuff from the flea-market, have a chat with us about derby or other things and maybe press a nice T-shirt for yourself. In addition there will be an interesting panel about gender and sports. The night ends in a derby-themed movie and legendary danceoke. Click yourself to the facebook event where you can find the more specific timetable. And take part in a raffle where you can win awesome DRRD shirts for you and a friend!

On Sunday there will be a vegan brunch of the tastiest kind. While you enjoy your food you can also enjoy the derby games being shown in the background. What’s better than that?

New beginners course starts soon! Now’s the time to join us and get yourself a new, awesome hobby. Everyone who’s turned 16 is welcome regardless of gender or previous involvement with sports. We’re a colourful bunch!

    • Wed: beginners’ practice 19:00-20:30
    • Fri: recreational practice 17:30-18:30
  • Why? Fun, fast, and very cool

On the course you’ll need your own equipment (helmet, knee and elbow pads, wrist guards, mouth guard and quad skates). We’ll help you with finding the right kind of equipment the best we can. The course costs 60 euros. You’ll get more information after enrolling and if you have any questions now or in the future, you can send an e-mail to fresarit.drrg@gmail.com. The enrollment form below is in Finnish so feel free to ask help with it. 🙂
