In our activities we follow a safer space policy and we don’t accept any racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, ableist or otherwise discriminatory behaviour. You must respect everyone’s right for self-identification. You shouldn’t assume anyone’s gender, sexuality or state of health. If you encounter any problems or harassment, you can let any of our members know or contact us afterwards at conflictmanagement@dirtyriverrollerderby.com or use our anonymous contact form https://forms.gle/XnvjsDgGq5o2mx9QA
Our activity takes place at Ilpoisten palloiluhalli which isn’t a fully accessible space. You can reach the entrance doors with a car and there are parking spots 20 meters away from the doors. A 5 meter area with even stone tiles leads up to the entrance doors in a 5 degree uphill angle. There is also a 3 cm high metallic grate in front of the doors. The doors don’t open automatically and are hefty but we will be at the doors when the event starts. The vestibule is narrow. If you come late, there’s a door bell near the main entrance at 120 cm.
The event takes place in a wooden-floored gymnasium which can be accessed from the lobby through wide doors. There is a 3 cm doorstep. In our events where we have an audience, the stand is partly on the stage with steps leading up to it and partly in the gymnasium. .
There can be loud noises such as whistle blows, low rumble coming from wheels or shouts in our events. In some events we try to arrange commentary that can be heard on the stands. There is no induction loop. There is even lighting in the space. We ask you to consider people who are sensitive to smells and avoid using scents.
There’s a toilet in the lobby which is marked as accessible but doesn’t meet all the requirements of an accessible toilet. For example it has a door that is difficult to open and close. The toilet is non-gendered. There are also two toilets in the lobby that are normally gendered. However, in our events all the toilets are non-gendered.
There are two larger and two smaller locker rooms which can be accessed from the lobby through a narrow hallway. The door steps leading to the hallway and the locker rooms are about 3 cm high. There is a non-gendered toilet as well as a shower in both of the larger locker rooms. In the smaller locker rooms there’s a joint shower. In our events all the locker rooms are non-gendered. However, if you’d prefer a more private locker room, you can use any of the smaller locker rooms if they’re unoccupied. You can also use the smaller locker rooms if you need a quieter space.
Guide dogs are allowed in the premises.
