You’ll get to try the skates and other gear, and you don’t need to know how to skate or have any background in sports to attend. Everyone is welcome! Wear comfy sports clothes and bring a water bottle with you.

Sign-up for the beginners’ course is now open! The course starts on Feb 12th and you’ll need to have your own gear to participate. The best place to shop for gear is our partner, Finland’s one and only derby shop Jam in the box. You can also check second hand options on Facebook. You´ll need skates, helmet, knee pads, elbow pads, wrist guards and mouth guard.

The age limit for our beginners’ course is 16 years, but otherwise there are no requirements. You are welcome just as you are, whether that’s a couch potato or a super sportsy person. Spots are limited so sign up quickly! More info: beginners@dirtyriverrollerderby.com.

Dirty River Roller Derby Beginners’ course this autumn!

The course starts on Wednesday 2nd October and lasts until December. The beginners practice every Wednesday from 7 pm until 8.30 pm and on Fridays from 6:30 pm until 8 pm. We practice at Ilpoisten palloiluhalli (Lauklähteenkatu 15, Turku). We’ll learn something new at every practice but also revise things that we have learned in previous sessions.

The beginners’ course costs 65 euros and you need to have your own gear to participate. We’ll be glad to help you out if you have any questions regarding buying the gear! The easiest way to get your gear is to contact Finland’s very own roller derby store Jam in the Box.

Welcome to the course and the derbyverse!

Turku Pride is fast approaching, and Dirty River Roller Derby is participating! This year we’re organizing an open scrimmage on Mon 19 August so you can and watch roller derby, and an open skate on Wed 21 August so you can try roller derby yourself!

We’re looking for new players, but also referees, non-skating officials and volunteers. We’re organizing a big home tournament on 14 September and a bootcamp for non-skating officials on 15 September. Everyone is welcome to participate in these events! We’ll post more info later on. The beginners’ course will start on 2 October, stay tuned for details!

New beginners course starts soon! Now’s the time to join us and get yourself a new, awesome hobby. Everyone who’s turned 16 is welcome regardless of gender or previous involvement with sports. We’re a colourful bunch!

On the course you’ll need your own equipment (helmet, knee and elbow pads, wrist guards, mouth guard and quad skates). We’ll help you with finding the right kind of equipment the best we can.
