In the try outs you get to try roller skating and get to know the sport. We’ll lend you all the gear you need! You only need to bring comfy clothes and a water bottle with you.
What is Dirty River Roller Derby?
Dirty River Roller Derby (DRRD) is a Turku-based Roller Derby league that has been active for over 10 years. Roller Derby is a fast-paced, strategical team sport played on quad skates. It’s also a full contact sport where you can safely give hits within the rules.
After the try outs
Our beginner practices begin on 13th of February and last for 2 months. You can participate in our activities in many different ways:
- As a player
- As a skating referee
- As a non skating official
- As a volunteer
Whatever your role is, you’re very welcome to join our community!
We want to provide everyone a safer and discrimination-free space to train, play, volunteer and enjoy the sport. We don’t approve discrimination based on a person’s gender, sexuality, age, ethnicity, neurotype, disability, body or any other part of their identity. You can join our try outs and beginner practices without any previous experience in sports. In our competing teams can participate everyone that is eligible to play under the global roller derby association WFTDA.
